The FBI says it's alert of fake emails caused by a bundle malfunction generated from an FBI-operated server.

In a statement, the bureau said the fake emails were originated from a server that sent notifications to its Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal (LEEP). Still, they were "not portion of the FBI’s firm email service."

"The FBI is alert of a bundle misconfiguration that temporarily allowed an histrion to leverage the Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal (LEEP) to nonstop fake emails," the bureau said. "No histrion was capable to entree oregon compromise immoderate information oregon PII connected the FBI’s network."
